The Advantages of Reading

As a student, I personally believe that reading has a lot of advantages, especially for students. There are several reading activity that students can do, like read a novel, short story, poem, magazine, newspaper, science book, etc.

Firstly, reading helps you get a lot of knowledge. The more we read the more knowledge we get. Reading is the way to open the world. If we want deeply understand this world do reading first.  The knowledge that we get from reading can make us more confident in facing the world, easier to adapt with the society, and able to survive with the condition of the world.

Secondly, by reading we can increase our vocabulary. When reading we will find many new words, we will think the meaning of those new words and keep them in our mind.  Our brains work similar to sponge, they soak up every of the new words we encounter and store it for future use.

Thirdly, reading helps you to increase creativity. Reading a fiction book increases the creativity of the brain, especially at the young age. This creativity is useful because creative people are able to solve business problem, write music and book, and make innovation in science.

Fourthly, reading can improve writing skill.  An improved vocabulary and increased of creativity are direct result of an established habit of reading. Both of the benefits create a third benefit of reading books. That benefit is improve writing skill. People who read a lot will be able to write well than people who are less read. All successful writers will declare in order to be a successful writer; you need to read every day.

Fifthly, reading can give us pleasure and reduces stress. When we are tired or surfeited we can read a comic or a funny story so that make us excited again.

Therefore, I think everyone needs to read to get knowledge, increases creativity and writing skill, and also entertainment. Try to read every day even if you just read one paragraph. Read everything that you can read.
